Foamtec Medical’s Vertically Integrated Advantage

Foamtec Medical is one of the world’s largest vertically integrated manufacturers of medical-grade open-cell polyurethane (PU) foam and finished medical devices. By managing foam formulation, manufacturing, and converting within one quality system, customers benefit from greater alignment between development, validation, and commercial production. In-house manufacturing helps strengthen supply chain stability and maintain consistent foam properties over time.

In-House Foam Formulation & Manufacturing

We develop and manufacture custom open-cell polyurethane foam formulations tailored to your application requirements for diagnostic sample collection, drug delivery, wound care, filtration, orthopedic, and specialty medical devices.

Pilot Line Technology

Our pilot line allows customers to produce production-quality foam at a small scale for clinical studies and 510(k) submissions without committing to full commercial volumes. The foam uses the same formulation and quality standards as large-scale manufacturing, helping reduce risk during scale-up.

Complete Traceability

From raw materials through foaming, curing, converting, assembly, and packaging, we maintain full lot traceability and controlled change management throughout the manufacturing process.

Medical-Focused Manufacturing

Our processes, cleanroom capabilities, and quality systems are designed for medical device manufacturing and support requirements for biocompatibility, non-cytotoxicity, and contamination control.

End-to-End Process Control

Critical foam characteristics, including pore size, density, reticulation, absorbency, and hydrophilic or hydrophobic properties, are engineered to your application and controlled within our validated manufacturing process.

The result is simple: the foam used during development and regulatory submission is the same foam manufactured at commercial scale, delivering consistency from validation through production.

Application Specific Polyurethane Foam

We listen to understand key deliverables of your finished device and to identify and/or create a PU foam to meet critical criteria.

Foamtec doesn’t believe it’s just about producing any foam. We believe the Foamtec difference is our ability to make a foam with unique properties that creates a differentiated device with your end-use in mind.

If your project has specific requirements, our R&D team will work with you to provide the correct foam for your PU device.
